Request for Admission

A Request for Admission is a form of written discovery in an insurance lawsuit, in which one party asks the opposing party to admit or deny certain facts or the genuineness of certain documents. The purpose of requests for admission is to narrow the issues in dispute and to establish certain facts as true for purposes of the litigation. The responding party must either admit or deny each request, or object to the request on specific grounds such as relevance or privilege. Admissions made in response to a request for admission are binding on the party making them and may be used as evidence at trial.
