Notice of Appeal

A notice of appeal is a legal document filed by a party to inform the court and the opposing party of their intent to appeal a decision or judgment. The notice must be filed within a specified time period after the entry of the judgment, typically 30 days in federal court and varying by state court rules. The notice must specify the party taking the appeal, the judgment or order being appealed, and the court to which the appeal is being taken. It must also be served on the opposing party.
