Early Termination

Early termination refers to the ending of a lease agreement before its scheduled expiration date. Lease agreements are legally binding contracts, and tenants who terminate their lease early may face financial penalties, such as paying rent for the remaining months of the lease term or forfeiting their security deposit. However, there are certain circumstances under which tenants may be able to terminate their lease early without penalty, such as when the landlord fails to maintain the habitability of the rental unit, when the tenant is called to active military duty, or when the tenant is a victim of domestic violence. Some lease agreements may also include early termination clauses that allow tenants to break the lease for specified reasons, such as job relocation or family emergencies.
