Right to Organize

The Right to Organize is a legal protection that allows tenants to form, join, or participate in tenant unions or associations without fear of retaliation from their landlords. This right is based on the principle that tenants should have the freedom to advocate for their interests and work collectively to address housing issues. Tenant organizations can help renters negotiate with landlords, resolve disputes, and improve living conditions in their rental properties. Landlords cannot prohibit tenants from organizing or discriminate against them for participating in tenant unions. If a landlord takes adverse action against a tenant for exercising their Right to Organize, the tenant may have grounds for a legal claim against the landlord.
