T nonimmigrant status and U nonimmigrant status are forms of immigration relief available to certain victims of human trafficking and certain crimes, respectively. To apply for these forms of relief, respondents must submit a comprehensive application package to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), including the appropriate application form (Form I-914 for T status or Form I-918 for U status), a personal statement, and supporting evidence. In immigration court proceedings, a copy of the complete application package and any relevant correspondence with USCIS should be submitted as evidence of the respondent’s eligibility for relief and their efforts to pursue a legal remedy.
