Post-Trial Motion

A post-trial motion is a legal document filed by a party after a trial has concluded, requesting the court to take a specific action or reconsider its decision. Common post-trial motions include motions for a new trial, motions for judgment notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV), and motions to alter or amend the judgment. These motions typically argue that an error occurred during the trial or that the verdict is not supported by the evidence.
