Proof of Sponsor's U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status

If the respondent is being sponsored for adjustment of status by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, proof of the sponsor’s status must be submitted. This may include a copy of the sponsor’s U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or Green Card. In immigration court proceedings, this evidence is necessary to establish the sponsor’s ability to petition for the respondent’s adjustment of status.
