Affidavit of Support (Form I-864 or I-864EZ)

The Affidavit of Support is a legally enforceable contract between the petitioner and the U.S. government, in which the petitioner agrees to provide financial support to the beneficiary to ensure that they do not become a public charge. Form I-864 or I-864EZ must be submitted with Form I-130 for most family-based immigration cases. In immigration court proceedings, the Affidavit of Support is important evidence of the petitioner’s ability to financially support the respondent and to overcome any public charge concerns.
