Birth Certificate

A birth certificate is an official document issued by a government authority to record an individual’s birth. The document typically includes the person’s name, date of birth, place of birth, and the names of their parents. In immigration court proceedings, a birth certificate may be required to establish the individual’s identity, age, and nationality. It can also be used to demonstrate family relationships, such as parent-child or sibling ties, which may be relevant to certain applications for relief from removal. If the birth certificate is in a foreign language, a certified English translation may be necessary for it to be considered as evidence in immigration court.
