Motion to Compel

A motion to compel is a legal document filed by a party in a lawsuit when the opposing side fails to adequately respond to discovery requests or refuses to provide requested information. The motion asks the court to order the non-compliant party to provide the requested discovery. The filing party must demonstrate that they have made a good faith effort to obtain the discovery through other means before filing the motion. If granted, the court will order the opposing party to provide the requested information or face sanctions.
