Photographs

Photographs can serve as visual evidence to support a foreign national’s case in immigration court proceedings. They can be used to document important life events, family relationships, community ties, and cultural or religious practices. For example, photographs of the individual with their U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident family members may be used to demonstrate the closeness of their relationship and the potential hardship that would result from separation. Photographs of the individual participating in community events, religious ceremonies, or volunteer work can also be used to establish their ties to the United States and their positive contributions to society. In asylum cases, photographs documenting the individual’s injuries, living conditions, or political activities in their home country may be used as evidence to support their claim of persecution.
