Request for Settlement Conference

A request for settlement conference is a legal document filed by one or more parties in a lawsuit, asking the court to schedule a meeting where the parties can attempt to resolve the dispute without going to trial. The request typically includes the reasons why a settlement conference would be beneficial, such as the potential for a mutually agreeable resolution or the need to narrow down the issues in the case. If granted, the court will appoint a neutral third party, often a judge or magistrate, to facilitate the settlement discussions. The goal of the settlement conference is to reach a compromise that satisfies all parties and eliminates the need for further litigation.
