International Sewage Pollution Prevention Certificate (ISPPC)
International Sewage Pollution Prevention Certificate (ISPPC)
The International Sewage Pollution Prevention Certificate (ISPPC) is a document certifying that a ship complies with the requirements of MARPOL Annex IV for the prevention of sewage pollution. Key features include:
1. Ship’s particulars (name, distinctive number or letters, port of registry, gross tonnage)
2. Description of the sewage treatment plant or sewage comminuting and disinfecting system
3. Details of standards of sewage discharge (Regulation 9.1.1 or 9.1.2)
4. Number of persons the system is certified to serve
5. Arrangements for temporary storage of sewage when the ship is less than 3 nautical miles from the nearest land
This certificate is required for ships of 400 gross tonnage and above, and ships certified to carry more than 15 persons, engaged in international voyages. It ensures that ships have appropriate systems for treating and discharging sewage to prevent marine pollution.
