Garbage Management Plan

A Garbage Management Plan is a document required for certain ships to outline procedures for handling and disposing of garbage on board. Key features include:

1. Procedures for collecting, storing, processing, and disposing of garbage

2. Designation of the person in charge of carrying out the plan

3. Procedures for minimizing garbage generation

4. Description of garbage handling equipment on board

5. Training procedures for crew members

This plan is mandatory for ships of 100 gross tonnage and above, and ships certified to carry 15 or more persons, as per MARPOL Annex V. It helps ensure proper waste management at sea, reducing marine pollution and complying with international regulations.
